Pool decks crop up all across the American landscape and look amazing on above ground pools and below. They’re wildly popular with more than 3.5 million scattered across the countryside. These decks can be constructed from various materials including Ipe, Pressure Treated Southern Pine, Cumuru, Cedar, Mahogany, composite, vinyl capped composite, and vinyl. We’ve poured through our creations to show you four pool decks in various materials that’ll inspire you to take action today.
Above Ground Pool Deck with Matching Lattice
When our customer wanted a pool deck with matching railings and lattice work to encircle their above ground pool, we handcrafted their vision with pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine. The lawn running along two sides of the pool makes this deck feel expansive. Lattice work beneath the deck allows Mom or Dad to store pool toys out of sight.
Although this beauty is nearly half the cost of other wood options like Cumuru or Ipe, it’s a durably constructed deck that requires little upkeep. Pressure treated wooden decks need stained every three years with a UV inhibitor. It’s best to stain it so that it’s not exposed to the elements like rain, snow, dirt, sun, and pool water. The rest of the time you’ll enjoy your toes in the water.
Easy-to-Clean Above Ground Pool with Deck
Pressure treated Southern Pine isn’t the only material available for above ground pool decks. The light grey decking won’t heat up as much as darker colors which makes it cooler on bare feet.
Amish deck builders created this economical and low maintenance deck from Azek with black aluminum railing spindles. The dock is easily cleaned with Zep 505, Krud Cleaner/Degreaser or Simple Green at 50 percent dilution.
So, make a splash jumping off the dock into the pool. You’ll have a cool place to relax all summer long, and cleanup will be a breeze.
Decking for an Underground Pool
This Ipe pool deck proves less is more
Ipe (pronounced ee-pay) is an exotic hardwood that comes from Brazil and is denser than California Redwood. Ipe will last 20 years or more and naturally resist mold, decay, and rot. Many love that this wood is sustainably harvested. The dense cell structure of the wood means it doesn’t need to be treated with preservatives. It’s the highest rated wood for durability according to the US Forest Products Labradory and resists splintering and checking.
The simple design frames the underground pool and highlights the lush, green yard and trees.
